about

This recording - recently sent to me by a fan who worked in the National Archive - was found in the GayWaves archive from 2SER-FM - a Sydney independent radio station - circa 1981 - but take careful note of the back-announcement (at 3min 55 sec) where the DJ (on what must have been a gay radio show) back-announces the track with some amazing comments.

She says that my label Listen Music was the first music label dedicated to just releasing studio bands! Well - there ya go - before Icehouse and Tears For Fears and Thompson Twins made it big without playing a single note live - I was being rejected by every major record label (perhaps because the songs just weren't good enough!) but mostly because I refused to play live.

So refreshing to hear the DJ say this and how strange that she draws the conclusion that - back in 1981 when gays were still not accepted - a studio band label like mine may help them.

Jay Moxham began writing songs only two years earlier but his love of Pop music drove him into the studio to record them.
